How do I make a booking?

How do I pay for a rental?

To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required. Thereafter, balance is due 7 days before the rental date. No refund if cancelation is made 5 days out from confirmed booking date

What is the minimum rental time?

There is no minimum rental time frame, its your choice how long you want your adventure to last for!

What happens if I need to return the vehicle early?

Refunds are not usually granted for early returns and are only provided in exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of Explore Rentals.  

Do you offer insurance for the rental vehicles?

Yes, Explore Rentals offers comprehensive insurance options for all our rental vehicles. We provide basic insurance coverage, which is included in the rental rates, as well as two more additional coverage options for lowering the excess for added peace of mind. Our team will be happy to assist you in selecting the insurance package that best suits your needs. There is a bond held which is in the amount of insurance excess applicable to the driver dependent on age and coverage selection.

What is the setup and packing process like for the rooftop tents?

It’s incredibly easy! Setting up the tent only takes a few minutes, and the packing away process is equally quick. Rest assured, when you book with us, we’ll provide you with detailed instructions well in advance of your booking. If you have any additional questions, our team is always here to assist you every step of the way.

What is included in the camping gear?

Premium camping equipment includes 2 expandable seats with carry bag, full set of utensils, premium 2 burner gas cooktop, 2kg LPG bottle with connections, LED lighting strip with power bank, water tank, premium cooler, cookware, plates, Aeropress coffee maker and filters, 2 x mugs. Bedding is also available for an extra one-off cost.

We have rental locations in Dunedin, Queenstown & Christchurch. Please contact us prior to booking to ensure the vehicle is in the location you require.

Can I rent a vehicle if I am under 25 years old?

Unfortunately our insurance policy dictates our driver age limit to 25 years and over.

Are there any mileage restrictions on rentals?

Our rental vehicles come with unlimited mileage, allowing you to explore as much as you desire.
